Swedish Realist Painter, 1853-1919 Swedish painter, illustrator and printmaker. He came from a poor family and studied (1866-76) at the Konstakademi in Stockholm, supporting himself throughout this period. From 1871 to 1878 he contributed illustrations to the comic journal Kaspar and the Ny illustrerad tidning. German Baroque Era Painter, 1630-1666, was a Bavarian Baroque painter and a student of Rembrandt van Rijn. After working in Stuttgart (1656), Prague, Dresden (1659-60), Vienna and Salzburg, he stayed his last four years in Freising where he worked for Furstbischof Albrecht Sigismund von Bayern. He was married twice. His paintings and frescoes show dark pictures of everyday life.

Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes (30 March 1746 - 16 April 1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker regarded both as the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. Goya was a court painter to the Spanish Crown, and through his works was both a commentator on and chronicler of his era. The subversive and imaginative element in his art, as well as his bold handling of paint, provided a model for the work of later generations of artists, notably Manet, Picasso and Francis Bacon.
